These services are provided in the patient's home, ambulatory infusion centers, assisted live homes, physicians' offices or other alternate site outside the hospital.

What is Infusion Therapy: Infusion therapy is the administration of medication or nutrients through veins, subcutaneous tissue, intramuscular or spine administration. Infusion covers most administration other than standard oral or rectal administration of medications. Altius HC pharmacy prepares the medications through sterile procedures. It is then delivered to the patient ready for administration. Altius HC infusion nurse specialist then assist the patient or their caregiver through instruction and training in the safe administration of the infusion medication.

Conditions treated by Infusion: Infusion therapies cover a wide variety of disease conditions or patient needs. Therapies include AntiInfectives for severe infections, such as Osteomylelitis, diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds, pneumonia, cellulitis, viral and fungal infections, MRSA and many others. Medications for pain are administered via intravenous, subcutaneous, intramuscular or intra-spinal routes of administration. Conditions include cancer pain, post surgical pain, trauma and neurological pain. Nutritional formulas (Total Parenteral Nutrition) are required for patients with severe gastro-intestinal disease and trauma. Neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis are often treated with various infusion therapies.
